Over 40 people attended the event to understand the benefits and meet the team. Previous participants spoke about their experiences and what they had gained from the course. Stuart who graduated from the Learn2Earn programme last year said:
“After many years unemployed, I am now in full time employment. It’s the best course I have ever done.
Learn2Eearn has definitely helped me to realise certain things and opened my mind for further opportunity, development, learning, improvement. Thank you so much for your efforts.”
Blenheim and the Octavia Foundation work together to deliver the Learn2Earn programme, which has been awarded a grant from the Big Lottery Fund to support people into education, training and employment in Kensington & Chelsea, Hammersmith & Fulham and Westminster. The programme, aimed at the long term unemployed lasts for 12 weeks.
The DAWS ETE service provides free, personalised support which can involve giving our service users skills needed to look for work, such as using a computer and writing a CV, as well as identifying other routes into employment such as apprenticeships and other types of full time training.
Dame Carol Black’s Independent Review into the Effects on Employment Outcomes of Drug or Alcohol Addiction and Obesity, found that employment can help to avoid a relapse, so helping people to achieve occupational goals is integral part of what we do.
