Arch Garden Party

On 3 August, Arch (Addictions Recovery Community Hillingdon) held a Garden Party, opening its doors to the local community, partners and service users. The event was opened by the Mayor of Hillingdon, who congratulated all the staff on their hard work and dedication to Hillingdon residents.

Arch is an integrated treatment system for all drug and alcohol users in Hillingdon offering a range of services from groups to outreach, open access to prescribing.

Guests gathered in the garden to hear poetry and view artwork created by service users, produced at groups run at the service. Local councillors kindly donate money to pay for the electricity costs for the Recovery Summer House which was also showcased during the event.

The Mayor judged the annual ‘Bake Off’ which included delicious cakes from staff and service users and after tasting each one presented the prize to the winner.

Sue Murphy, CNWL’s Sector Manager for Arch, said:

“The day was a huge success. The garden looked stunning, the creative writing group, and service user and volunteers poems and stories were heart-warming and inspirational. The art work on display was vibrant and lighted up the garden which added to the lovely fun atmosphere.  Today was a great example of our service users coming together to celebrate their road to recovery, and the wonderful support network they have developed with the Arch team.

“Since we opened our doors in autumn 2015 we have a proven track record in helping people in Hillingdon to regain control of their lives following a period of substance misuse. Over the last year more than 1,478 people in Hillingdon have accessed treatment for their addiction through support from Arch.”

Chris Campbell, Blenheim Assistant Director, said:
“We had a brilliant turn out for the Garden Party from partners, service users and volunteers, emphasising what a great recovery community we have in Hillingdon. The artwork, poetry and cakes were all fantastic and I would like to thank everyone that contributed”
