Have you got a story to share?
Last week (18 October 2017) Blenheim and Eastside Community Heritage launched their new project, Journey to Recovery. The event, held at R3, was attended by over 50 local people. 10 people have signed up already and the team are looking for a total of 20 volunteers to record their stories and learn new skills.
The project, funded by the Heritage Lottery Fund (HLF) will look at changing attitudes towards addiction and mental health. As those in treatment today regrettably continue to face stigma and prejudice, it is vital that their stories are recorded and preserved in their own words, unlike in the past.
The project includes a range of great training opportunities for volunteers, including archive research, oral history training, exhibition design and digital design skills. All the interviews and project results will be shown in an exhibition in a year’s time.
You can get involved if you are;
- In recovery in the London Borough of Redbridge
- Over 18 years
- Are able to commit to 10 workshops over the next 18 months
