On the 30th of August Haringey Recovery Service – a service based in North London – held a summer BBQ for staff and service users. The event was organised to celebrate service users success and to create an opportunity for everyone to socialise in a fun, positive and safe environment.

The food, which was kindly cooked by staff, included a vast amount of freshly cooked chicken, burgers and sausages – which did not last long – along with healthy salads, coleslaw and roasted veg.  For afters we were treated to home baked lemon cake and watermelon.

The atmosphere was friendly and welcoming with everyone catching up while enjoying food and talking over the finest music from the 80’s, 90’s and 00’s.

We had the opportunity to sit down and hear a few service users inspiring stories and while some were new to the service, others had been attending for a number of years.

After talking to service users it was clear that the service is an important service for the community giving people a platform to turn their lives around.
